Garden City News, page 22: "Holiday Greetings For Garden City's Own in Iraq" ..Maggie Biggane donated sun screen on behalf of Mollie's Fund to First Lt. Thomas Ryder's platoon in Iraq. Thomas is from Garden City. The project was spearheaded by the Garden City Middle School Nurses and Loraine Phillips and Nancy Crowley and Assistant Principal Susan Lee. Maggie was a teacher and Mollie was a student at the GC Middle School..

 

November 29th - December 1st, 2007

Mollie's Fund participated in an a Champions for Charity fund raising event.

 

Distribution of our DVD, “The Dark Side of the Sun.”

Distributed with the support of the NJ American Cancer Society, to every public and private middle and high school health classes in the state.

 

New York state distribution of the “Dark Side of the Sun”, with accompanying CD curriculum.

We collaborated with NY AHPERD Health leadership to create a teacher’s guide for all middle and high school health teachers in the state.

 

Created a wallet sized brochure, “Have You Checked Your Skin Lately”.

We have distributed over 75,000 nationally and continue to receive requests.

Newspaper ad campaign, full page ads in local papers, illustrating the importance of skin checks.

 

MARCH 24, 2006

New York State Society of Physician Assistants, Spring Continuing Education Conference, sponsored and participated in a workshop featuring Dr. Howard Kaufman, Director, Melanoma Center Columbia University Medical Center.

 

OCTOBER 29, 2005

With the support of the Melanoma Research Foundation, presented the first Melanoma Education Symposium for Long Island patients, their families and health care providers. Talks were given by Dr. Howard Kaufman (Columbia University Medical Center), Dr. Martin Karpeh (Stony Brook University Hospital), Dr. Anna Pavlick (NYU School of Medicine and Cancer Institute), Dr. Jedd Wolchok (Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center), and Mr. Mario Sznol (Yale University).

 

SEPTEMBER, 2005

Produced a DVD, “The Dark Side of the Sun”. The goals of this film are to educate young adults about sun protection, the importance of mole identification and the toxicity of tanning beds.

 

MAY 16, 2005

Partnered with 25 Long Island dermatologists to provide 100 free total body screenings.

Newspaper campaign, full page ads in 27 local L.I. papers and Newsday to remind readers the importance of mole identification.
