Glen Cove Yacht Club – Long Island Sound — Glen Cove, NY
The Sound to the Cove swim will be Saturday, August 13, 2011, 5am-noon. STC is a 1 mile, 5K, or 10K swim in Long Island Sound finishing on the beach at beautiful Morgan Park in the City of Glen Cove. The event begins with registration at 6am (5am for 10K swimmers) and concludes by noon after brunch, an Awards Ceremony and Check Presentations to Beneficiaries.

Cosmo’s second Annual Practice Safe Sun Awards, honoring five individuals and one organization who have joined us in the effort to alert people to the dangers of UV exposure and lower the staggeringly high rates of skin cancer, especially among young women. Cosmo presented awards to actress Laura Linney, New York Ranger Sean Avery, Giada De Laurentiis, dermatologist Dr. Jennifer Stein, activist Cara Biggane, and the American Academy of Dermatology.

The presentation was given to all 6th grade students of GC Middle School. Mollie’s Fund was assisted by Doctors Daly and Clarke. Students viewed “The Dark Side of the Sun”. Dr. Daly (GC Dermatology) reviewed how to be sun smart and Dr. Clarke performed his rap melanoma song.
